(**Alert)Bemus Point budget approved in high voter turn-out...

The only school district in Chautauqua County to not have a 2013-2014 budget in place now has one.  Voters in the Bemus Point School District have approved a $13.1-million spending plan by a wide margin, 601-to-440.  While the margin of approval Tuesday was not overwhelming... the sheer numbers were for the small, rural district.  District officials say 1,042 people cast ballots on the spending plan... which was slightly revised from the one defeated back on May 21.  That budget was rejected by 12 votes.  Superintendent Jackie Latshaw says the school board moved administrative savings to cover needed technology, and core materials.  While the proposal increases taxes by 5.6-percent... Latshaw says it still falls under the 2-percent property tax cap when exclusions are added in.  She adds the tax increase will be 78-cents per $1,000 assessed value.  But... board officials say there's "no fluff" in the budget.
