Community Spotlight for Sept. 30-Oct. 7, 2018
This week, we get the Republican side of the race for the 150th District Assembly seat with incumbant Andy Goodell. Goodell says he is continuing to work on ways to improve New York's business climate, and weed out corruption in Albany. He has proposed a measure to end what's commonly referred to as "pay-to-play." Goodell says such measures are needed so that project bidding is on the up and up. He says the state has "sealed bids," but, adds that, when the bid specifications are in place that favor certain developers, that difficult to deal with. We also discuss the problems with the opioid drug crisis, and how legislation has helped that. However, in terms of Narcan use, Goodell believes it's time for manditory treatment for someone if they've been revived, and have addiction problems. We also talk about changes he would like to see made, regarding rifles, in the SAFE Act, and we also talk about changes to help better use renewable energy in the state. We heard from Democratic opponent Judy Einach last week.
