The Pretty Reckless frontwoman Taylor Momsen has shared a statement mourning the death of her bodyguard, Mason Haynes.

"Mason Haynes was my family, my protector, my confidant and one of my closest friends," Momsen writes in an Instagram post. "When someone knows every dark secret about you and never judges, spends 24 hours a day with you seven days a week, you form a bond that is hard to explain."

"He was a powerful giant with the softest heart of anyone I knew," Momsen continues. "Smart as a whip, artistic and most importantly he was always putting others needs first. His advocacy against bullying ran deep within him. I will miss him in a way I can't explain."

Momsen also sends her love to Haynes' family and asks anyone who can help to donate to a GoFundMe honoring his memory. According to the GoFundMe, Haynes died in a traffic accident at age 52.

"I love you Mason, I can't believe I'll never hear your voice again," Momsen writes. "You were truly one of a kind."

Mastodon's 'Marrow Deep' album features Black Sabbath's Geezer Butler, among other guests

In announcing their new album, Marrow Deep, Mastodon released the song "Snakes for Dinner" featuring Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme. As it turns out, Homme is far from the only guest on the record.

In an interview with Kerrang!, Mastodon reveals that Marrow Deep also includes contributions from Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler, Gojira frontman Joe Duplantier, Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe and CLuth's Neil Fallon, who previously collaborated with the Atlanta metallers on their classic "Blood and Thunder."

Working with Butler was especially meaningful for drummer/vocalist Brann Dailor, whose late mother, Michele Jeanne Lawrence, was a big fan of the Sabbath legend.

"She was always like, '[Butler] writes the lyrics!'" Dailor says of his mother. "She would absolutely love the song. It's still a pinch-me moment on the record. He could have just hit an open A, and I would have still been like, 'FEATURING GEEZER BUTLER ON THE OPEN A!'"

Dailor's mother passed away in February 2025. A month later, Mastodon announced the departure of founding guitarist Brent Hinds, who then died in a motorcycle accident in August 2025.

"As we go forward, we will always carry and [recognize] Brent's legacy, without a doubt," says bassist/vocalist Troy Sanders. "We'll never deny how huge of an influence, and how massive he was in the creation of Mastodon. But through the tragedy, there is triumph."

"I'm proud of us for not just feeling overwhelmingly pitiful for ourselves, or just collapsing and saying, 'Hey, we had a good run,'" Sanders continues. "It would be doing a massive disservice to our own being to not continue – there's so much life in us."

Marrow Deep is due out Aug. 28. Mastodon will launch a U.S. tour in September.

Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant is set to receive the Americana Music Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognizes the artist's “extraordinary contributions to Americana and American Roots music.”

"Robert Plant's relationship with Americana music extends far beyond influence—it is one of genuine passion, stewardship and artistic curiosity," said Jed Hilly, executive director of the Americana Music Association. "His willingness to immerse himself in the traditions of blues, folk, country and gospel, while continuing to push their boundaries, has expanded the audience for Americana around the world.”

“Few artists have done more to honor the music's past while helping shape its future," Hilly adds. "We are thrilled to recognize his extraordinary contributions with the Americana Music Association's Lifetime Achievement Award."

Following his years with Led Zeppelin, Plant has embraced roots and Americana music, most notably with his collaborations with singer Alison Krauss and producer T Bone Burnett. Their 2007 album, Raising Sand, won the Grammy for album of the year, while its follow-up, 2021’s Raise the Roof, won best Americana album at the Grammys. Plant's more recent exploration of the genre resulted in the 2025 self-titled debut album from his band Saving Grace, with Suzi Dian.

Plant will be honored during the 25th annual Americana Honors & Awards on Sept. 16 at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium. Tickets for the ceremony are on sale now.

Gojira's Mario Duplantier to miss US shows due to immigration issue

Gojira drummer Mario Duplantier will miss the band's upcoming run of U.S. shows.

In an Instagram post published Thursday, the French metallers write, "Mario is dealing with an immigration issue that has made it impossible for him to travel to the US in time for our shows."

"Mario is heartbroken not to be here with us and has fought hard every step of the way to find a solution," the post continues.

Gojira is set to headline the Wisconsin Rock Fest on Thursday, followed by performances at the Upheaval and Inkcarceration festivals on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The shows will go on as scheduled with Luigi Paraventi of the band Paleface Swiss playing drums in Duplantier's place.

While Gojira fans were certainly hoping to watch Duplantier play, Paraventi filling in means that a Luigi is taking the role of a Mario, which is a fun nugget for any Nintendo gamers out there.

"Player 2 has entered the game — RESPECT," Gojira writes.

Hole's 'Live Through This' to be reissued as part of Definitive Sound Series

'Live Through This' DSS album. (Interscope-Capitol Records)

Hole's 1994 album Live Through This is being reissued as part of Interscope-Capitol Records' Definitive Sound Series, described as a "premium audiophile vinyl series."

The LP was mastered from the original Live Through This analog master tapes, which guitarist Eric Erlandson rediscovered after they were lost in storage for years. It's due out Sept. 24.

"I remembered two oversized reels from Bob Ludwig's Gateway Mastering Studios that I had seen in my storage locker," Erlandson says in a statement. "I thought they were digital tapes created as backups. When I found them, I realized they were the actual analog mixes Bob had compiled to master the album. Bingo!"

The original Live Through This marked Courtney Love and company's sophomore effort, and spawned Hole classics including "Doll Parts" and "Violet."

Previous Definitive Sound Series releases include blink-182's Enema of the State, and A Perfect Circle's Thirteenth Step and Mer de Noms.

Daron Malakian 'Needles' Oasis at System of a Down London show

Noel Gallagher and Liam Gallagher may have made up and reunited Oasis, but they still have some fences to mend with System of a Down.

During the "Chop Suey!" outfit's show at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday, guitarist Daron Malakian made his feelings toward the "Wonderwall" group known while introducing a performance of the song "Needles."

"We have a little song about a tapeworm," Malakian told the crowd. "Just for fun, today I'm gonna name the tapeworm. Today I'm gonna name the tapeworm Oasis."

Malakian then sang, "Pull Oasis out of your a**" to the tune of "Needles."

You can watch footage of Malakian's comments posted to his Instagram.

As for the reason behind Malakian's Oasis animosity, Noel apparently said some disparaging things about System of a Down some years ago, which is something he's certainly had a reputation for. Of course, if Noel can end his feud with Liam, perhaps one day he and Malakian can see eye to eye, too.

In the meantime, System of a Down is currently playing shows in Europe with Queens of the Stone Age. They'll be back in the U.S. to headline the Sick New World Texas in October.

Why hasn't Ad-Rock released new music post-Beastie Boys? 'Good question'

Adam Horovitz and Michael Diamond of Beastie Boys speak onstage during the 27th Annual Rock And Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at Public Hall on April 14, 2012 in Cleveland, Ohio. (Michael Loccisano/Getty Images)

Michael "Mike D" Diamond's upcoming debut solo album, Thank You, marks the first full-length release from a Beastie Boys member since the group disbanded in 2012 following the death of Adam "MCA" Yauch. As it turns out, Mike's surviving Beasties bandmate, Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz, has also been creating music of his own.

In an interview with The New York Times, Horovitz says he has years of music stored on a laptop that he's been working on on a near-daily basis. As for why he's never released any of the material, Horovitz replies, "Good question."

Diamond, meanwhile, tells the Times he started working on music following Yauch's death, but would stop due to "grieving and sadness."

"The easiest way to not feel that was to shut the computer down and walk away from it," Diamond says. "It was too much for me to process to stay focused and creative."

Diamond eventually started producing for other artists before deciding to give his own material another go.

"I shouldn't be projecting my ideas onto any other artist," Diamond recalls thinking. "I should be saving that for myself."

Diamond was also helped in putting his own music together by his two sons, Davis Diamond and Skyler Diamond.

"I don't know that Mike would have done this on his own," Horovitz says. "We spent the bulk of our lifetime being in a band, a threesome that did everything together. And doing something on your own feels weird."

He adds, "I think it's great that Mike has recorded a record, especially with his kids. I think it is probably really helpful and healing to him."

Thank You is due out Aug. 28.
