**(Breaking)JPS School Board confirms appointment of Rochester school administrator to be new school superintendent....

The Jamestown School Board has unanimously confirmed the appointment of Tim Mains to be the new superintendent of the city school district, effective August 1.  During a special meeting of the board Monday night... members of various community groups that were part of the interview process spoke glowingly about Mains, and the way he presented himself and his philosophy on education.  Mains is currently the Director of Internal School Operations with the Rochester City School District.  He's held that position since 2012.  Jamestown Board President Joe DiMaio says Mains will be a wonderful asset to the district.  DiMaio says "his professional background and track record of improving student performance will serve our students well."  He will now work with retiring Superintendent Deke Kathman on the transition.  Kathman steps down as of August 1, 2013.  More on Tuesday.
