Male victim shot and killed in Sinclairville...
Few details have been released... but, one person has been killed in a shooting incident in the village of Sinclairville.  Chautauqua County Sheriff's officers were called to the scene on Reed and Park Streets just after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.  Deputies say the unidentified victim was taken by ambulance to UPMC Chautauqua Hospital... where he later died.  Officers say the incident in currently under investigation... but, add it does not appear that it was a random act.  The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the New York State Police and Sinclairville Fire rescuers. 


Ohio man arrested in Jamestown on illegal weapons and drug charges...
An Ohio man has been arrested in Jamestown on numerous warrants for illegally possessing guns... and, being found with large quantities of illegal drugs when he was arrested.  City police say they investigated a suspicious vehicle on Jamestown's eastside last Saturday afternoon.  During the investigation... the man -- identified as Gregory Hawkins -- fled in the suspect vehicle.. nearly hitting an officer.  After running a background check... police found the warrants out of Ohio... which also included having weapons while under disability... and, assault.  Officers later spotted Hawkins in the area of Barrett and Myers Avenues shortly before 2 p.m. Monday... and, he was arrested without further incident.  Police say they found him in possession of more than 9-ounces of methamphetamine, and more than 2-ounces of Fentanyl.  Hawkins was taken to the city jail pending extradition.  He faces charges in Jamestown of first-degree reckless endangerment... and, obstruction... along with second-degree criminal possession of a Controlled Substance... and, three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.  The Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force and JPD K-9 unit also assisted.  Anyone with information on criminal activity is urged to call police at 483-7536... or the anonymous tips line at 483-TIPS... that's 483-8477.


City Council gives approval to ARPA Housing programs...
City lawmakers in Jamestown have approved creating a couple of new. half-million dollar housing initiatives to help seniors and other homeowners make improvements to their homes.  The City Council approved the two measures... which will be funded with American Rescue Plan Act funding... during last week's Council voting session.  There was a lot of discussion over the Senior program... and, what kind of matches were needed.  Mayor Eddie Sundquist says it will depend on what kind of STAR program the senior is in... be it Enhanced, or Basic.  Sundquist says the other... more general program... will also cover improvements made to garages.  Council President Tony Dolce says votes were delayed on the two programs while lawmakers got more information... after several were passed the previous month.  These two programs will be offered through the city's Assessor's Office.  City lawmakers also approved Jamestown's more than $1.5-million Community Development Block Grant... and HOME Program Action Plans during the June voting session.


Woman arrested in Ellery following fight call...
A town of Ellery woman faces a harassment charge following her arrest for allegedly hitting other people... including a child... during a fight late Monday night.  Sheriff's officers and members of the State Police were called to an undisclosed address about 11:30 p.m., and, arrested 43 year-old Jennifer Miller.  Miller ia accused of striking a child in the face while also striking other adults during the incident.  Miller was taken to the county jail for arraignment on one count of second-degree harassment.


Bemus Point woman arrested following domestic incident... 
A Bemus point woman has been arrested for getting disorderly with State Police troopers called to a domestic dispute in the village last weekend.  State Police in Jamestown say they were called to Bemus Point location last Saturday... and, tried to interview the two people involved separately.  However... troopers say 28 year-old Megan Truver acted belligerantly, and yelled profanities within earshot of pedestrians and customers of a nearby business.  After being asked to stop... Truver continued to act disorderly, and impeded the investigation... and, resisted arrest.  After a brief struggle she was taken into custody on charges of second-degree obstruction, resisting arrest... and, disorderly conduct.  Truver was issued appearance tickets for Ellery Town Court at a later date.


County Chamber pleased with good start to Summer season on July 4th... 
A number of events during the Fourth of July weekend brought a large number of people to Chautauqua County.  Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce President and Chief Executive Officer Dan Heitzenrater says it was a good start to the Summer tourism season... adding that "from what I've seen and heard... there were a lot of great events... and you could see a lot of people out and about in our communities."  Heitzenrater says this is the first real "full Summer calendar" of events and activities since before the COVID-19 Pandemic.  Media One News has also heard several stories about great turn-outs for day-long festivals in Lakewood and Mayville... as well as their fireworks displays... and, other activites. 


Gas Prices down again in Chautauqua County, and nation this week...
The average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded gasoline in the Jamestown area has fallen 3-cents the past week to just under $4.87.  The AAA East Central's Gas Price Report says the average price fell from just under $4.90 a gallon the past seven days.  Several locations in the immediate Jamestown-area are charging about $4.86 a gallon.  AAA adds that the national average price is down 8-cents a gallon to $4.80.
