City police identify Jamestown man found dead earlier this week on eastside...
Jamestown police have now identified the man who was found dead this past Monday afternoon behind the 100 Block of East Second St.  JPD Captain Bob Samuelson says the man has been identified as 51 year-old Clarence Kelwaski, Jr. of Jamestown... who had been in a drug treatment program in Saratoga Springs.  Samuelson says he had been reported as missing back on Aug. 11 after reportedly signed himself out of the facility.  He had not been in contact with his family since that date.  An autopsy was conducted Tuesday morning at the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo in an attempt to determine the cause of death.  The official autopsy results are pending further medical tests.  Investigators from the Jamestown Police are working to find out when and how Kelwaski arrived back in Jamestown on or after Aug. 11.  Investigators are asking anyone with information on Kelwaski’s death or how and when he may have arrived back in Jamestown to contact them at 483-7537 or via Anonymous Tip at 483-TIPS... that's 483-8477.


Quattrone urges motorists to drive with caution for with Wintry Weather in area...
There were reportedly several motor vehicle accidents early Tuesday morning after scattered rain and snow showers slicked up local roadways.  That was especially the case over the higher elevations away from Lake Erie.  We have a forecast calling for more of that through early Wednesday.  Chautauqua County Sheriff Jim Quattrone says motorists need to give themselves extra time when traveling in such conditions.  Fortunately... the sheriff says there were no serious injuries reported.  But... he says we're approaching that time of year when conditions become more cold and slippery.  Quattrone says most of the crashes were in the Jamestown-area.


Shed and Travel Trailer Camper destroyed in Arkwright fire...
A campsite shed, and a travel trailer camper are a total loss following a fire that occured at the Arkwright Hills Campground in the town of Arkwright last Sunday morning.  Sheriff's deputies say local fire departments were called to the scene on Route 83 about 11 a.m., and, the county's Fire Investigation Team was called in.  Officers say investigators determined the blaze originated in the southwest corner of the shed.  However... they say the damage may have been too serious to determine a cause.  While both structures were total losses... no one was hurt.


Sempolinski critical of reports about moving migrants from southern border to upstate region...
There are reports that New York's junior U.S. Senator is proposing a plan to house undocumented migrants in Upstate New York communities... and, the region's Congressman says he's "very concerned" about it.  Steuben County Republican Joe Sempolinski says the 23rd District does "not have the resources and means that New York City has, and quite frankly, it is a crisis created by the exact policies" backed by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.  While Republican governor's have taken heat for sending migrants to New York and Washington, D.C., Sempolinski says the Biden Administration has pretty much done the same thing by flying migrants to Westchester County and elsewhere.  He says he's "all for legal immigration, but the President's policies have created a system that encourages illegal immigration over doing things by the book and following our rule of law.  I will always stand with the people of the 23rd District who are sick and tired of politicians in Washington, Albany, and New York City inflicting them with their disastrous policies."


Sherman man arrested for weapons possession following "suspicous situation" in Ripley...
A man from Sherman is accused of knocking on doors in a 'suspicious manner' in the town of Ripley last Saturday afternoon... and, being found in possession of two weapons.  Sheriff's deputies were called to a home on Burton Avenue shortly before 3 p.m., and, found 19 year-old Marcus Detweiler inside a vehicle parked in front of the residence.  During their investigation... officers say they found that Detweiler was operating the vehicle without a valid driver's license... as well as having no proof of registration... proof of insurance... or inspection... and, no distinctive license plates.  Officers say they also saw a 357-revolver in plain view on the floor under the driver seat.  After Detweiler was removed from the vehicle... they allegedly found an electronic stun gun in his possession.  Deputies also found the serial numbers has been scratched off the revolver.  Detweiler was arrested on several charges... including second and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon... and, jailed pending arraignment.


Seven identified as being arrested during drug raid in Dunkirk last Friday...
More details have now been released on a several month long drug investigation in the city of Dunkirk that led to seven arrests last Friday on Deer Street.  Dunkirk Police detectives were assisted by the Chautauqua County Regional Drug Task Force in conducting surveillance on 759 Deer... which led to securing a search warrant.  The warrant was also executed with the help of the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force... and led to the seizure of a quantity of crack cocaine, cocaine, fentanyl and cash.  Arrested on three counts each of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance... and, one one count of criminal possession of drug paraphernalia... were 31-year-old Amanda Niebel, 33-year-old Samantha Coleman, 30-year-old Maria Dominguez, 47-year-old Danelle Frazier, 29-year-old Casey Crane, and 61-year-old Darryl Watkins, all of Dunkirk... and 42-year-old Ronnie Walker of Rochester.  Watkins was also charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
