Work on late state budget continues, as one-week extender is approved...
Work continues on a new budget agreement in Albany... but, the New York State Legislature has approved a one-week extender allowing bills and state employees to be paid.  However... lawmakers would not be paid through the extender.  One local legislator... State Senator George Borrello... says he does not expect a spending plan to be approved this week, either.  Borrello say, even if an agreement is stuck today, there's probably not enough time to get bills out and on legislators desks in time.  He says the main sticking point is Gov. Kathy Hochul's proposed changes to the State's Bail Reform Law... which far left progressive lawmakers oppose.  The budget deadline was last Saturday... Apr. 1.  Hochul proposed a $227-billion spending plan for fiscal year 2023-24... but, both the Senate and Assembly one-house budgets are each over $230-billion.

State Cannibus Control Board approves 99 dispensaries after injunction is lifted...
New York regulators approved 99 new provisional licenses for recreational marijuana dispensaries Monday as they try to speed up the rollout of a legal market that had been impeded by a court ruling.  New York legalized recreational marijuana for adult use two years ago, although only seven shops have opened so far.  The rollout was slowed in part by a federal court ruling last fall that put retail licensing on hold in some regions, including Brooklyn and the Buffalo area, and legal operations are also undermined by a proliferation of unlicensed stores.  A federal appeals court lifted most of that injunction last week, paving the way for the Cannabis Control Board to provisionally approve licenses in those areas as part of the 99 green-lighted Monday.  Four of the dispensaries will be in Western New York.  Applicants still need to complete a supplemental application.

City of Jamestown still cleaning up damage from last Saturday's wind storm...
The clean-up was still going on Monday after last Saturday's major wind event that cut power -- at least briefly -- to thousands of local utility customers.  There were a number of trees that were either knocked down... or uprooted entirely by the winds... which reached 59 mph at the Jamestown Airport.  City Parks Manager Dan Stone says it was a "crazy day" with a number of calls... and, work was continuing as the new week began.  Stone says they probably lost 8 to 10 city trees... and, they were also working with the Board of Public Utilities to remove trees and limbs from power lines, and other clean-up.
