Wendel among county leaders in NYS pushing for meeting with Hochul, and NYC officials on migrant issue...
Chautauqua County Executive P.J. Wendel is pushing for a meeting of Governor Kathy Hochul, the mayor of New York City and county officials to discuss the issue of relocating migrants to upstate counties.  Wendel says lack of discussion on how to deal with the matter led to him deciding to extend the State of Emergency recently.  In addition... he says local agencies and other organizations who help migrants can't accept anymore of them.  On another issue... Wendel says he was concerned about the Assembly’s delay in passing home rule legislation extending the county's 5% bed tax and the 8% sales tax... and, credits local Assemblyman Andy Goodell with getting it through because the item had been lingering in the legislature's lower chamber.  The county's home rule legislation was approved during the Assembly's special session last week.
