Wendel in Celoron.  Wendel themed the gathering a the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel as "Strength in Unity: Advancing Chautauqua Lake Together."  The Lakewood Republican noted that many of the 162 people on hand wanted to hear from two top officials with the state Department of Environmental Conservation, because of proposed changes to wetland designations.  Wendel says a number of people left after the DEC presentation, but, he says he wanted to get out as much of the information as they could so people could make up their own minds.  Wendel emphasized the importance of collaboration and scientific insight in addressing the challenges facing Chautauqua Lake... because he says there is currently "no one method" to dealing with the invasive weed, and algal bloom issues.  However... he says there should be more information once the Jefferson Project completes it's work in the next five years.
