Chautauqua County officials pleased with emergency response to crash landing at airport...
The clean-up and investigation of Monday's crash of a small, private jet plane at the Chautauqua County Airport near Jamestown will keep the facility closed until next week.  Thankfully, neither the pilot nor co-pilot suffered major injuries.  County leaders were also pleased with the emergency response by local fire departments, and ambulance services.  Emergency Services Director Noel Guttman says they had a "huge response" as part of their plan to deal with such incidents... and, County Executive P.J. Wendel singled out the work of the airport fire and crash crew... which quickly identified the situation... and, put in the call for mutual aid.  Guttman adds that having the pilot and co-pilot walked away from the crash scene also made fighting the fire easier for fire personnel.  Neither man has been identified at this point.  Airport Manager Shannon Fisher says they were "very fortunate" to walk away... but, it also spoke to the ability of the pilot to crash-land the aircraft as safely as possible.  County emergency services and local fire companies reviewed their plans for dealing with airport crashes after the double-fatal crash that occured in June of last year.  Fisher says the two men had earlier taken off from Dunkirk, and were headed to Jamestown before flying to Florida, when the jet developed serious electrical problems.
