Borrello speaks about new, GOP Climate proposals...
New York State Senate Republicans are proposing legislation they say offers solutions to ensure a clean, affordable energy future for New Yorkers.  Local Senator George Borrello says the package is designed to "pump the brakes" on full electrification mandates included in the state's Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act that was implemented in 2019.  This follows criticism of Governor Kathy Hochul's administration, which has fallen short of benchmarks enacted in the CLCPA... and, Borrello adds they want "extreme winter weather" events studied for their impact on power outages... including problems from the brutal, Dec. 2022 Winter storm that killed nearly 50 people.
