Jamestown man arrested after alleged domestic violence incident on city's eastside...
A city man has been arrested for allegedly punching a woman several times in the face and head... leading to temporary hearing loss in one ear... during a domestic incident Sunday night.  Jamestown police were called to an eastside address about 8:30 p.m., and, learned that 29 year-old Naquan Evans had struck the victim several times... and, she had visable marks around her faces... and, a bloody nose.  Evans was found outside the house... and, he was arrested on one count of third-degree assault.  Police say there was also a valid stay-away order of protection for the victim, and two others living there... and, Evans also faces three counts of first-degree criminal contempt... and, one of aggravated criminal contempt.   He was jailed pending arraignment.


Two arrested on drug-related charges following Friday night traffic stop...
Two people from Jamestown were arrested early last weekend on drug-related charges following a traffic stop in the city's northside... and, one previously had numerous Felony drug convictions.  Jamestown police say their K-9 Unit stopped a vehicle on Prather Avenue -- near Forest -- shortly after 7 p.m. last Friday for moving and equipment violations.  During the investigation... officers found that both 49 year-old Kimsue Nutting... and, 42 year-old James Turner II... were both in possession of a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.  Police say Nutting was also found with a large quantity of packaging materials and a digital scale.  Both suspects were taking to the city jail... and, once inside... officers found that Nutting had concealed 55.5 grams of meth on her person.  A background check also turned up the previous drug convictions... and, she was charged with third, fourth-and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance... two counts of first-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia... and tampering with Physical Evidence.  Turner is charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.  He was released with appearance tickets... and, Nutting was held pending arraignment.


Four family members killed in fatal house fire in Cattaraugus County...
Four people are now confirmed dead following an overnight house fire in the Cattaraugus County town of Yorkshire.  State Police in Machias say firefighters were initially called to 3825 Creek Rd. shortly after 2 a.m. for the blaze in a single-family home.  Troopers say the fire apparently started near the kitchen area of the home... amnd, one family member was able to get out and call 911.  Police say the other four family members were located inside the home dead.  The State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and Forensic Identification Unit were assisted by State Fire and Yorkshire Fire Department personnel at the scene. Multiple fire companies and EMS in Cattaraugus County responded to the scene to assist.  No identifications have been release.  However... it's believed that some of the victims attended Pioneer Central School.  The investigation is continuing.


North County man arrested for illegal gun possession...         
A Silver Creek man is accused of being found in possession of a stolen, loaded, and defaced .38-Special handgun back in mid-August.  Sheriff's deputies say they were called to a reported altercation in the north county village back on Aug.11, and, the case was turned over to the department's Criminal Investigation Division.  Further investigation found that 31 year-old James Hurley, Jr. was in possession of the Rock Island Armory Model 206 gun... and, he was arrested last Wednesday on one count each of second, and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.  He was taken to the county jail pending centralized arraignment.


Wendel says Army Corps of Engineers work on Chautauqua Lake to being soon...
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will soon be on Chautauqua Lake to begin it's work to find the best way to restore the lake's ecosystem.  That from County Executive P.J. Wendel... who says they are currently drafting final contracts with the Corps to do the work on the lake.  Wendel says there will be a bigger rollout soon about that work... and, where it will take place.  He says they're finalizing contracts between the county and Army Corps right now.  Wendel says the "New Start" program is something that all the lake groups -- and the county -- have really been looking forward to.  He says the goal is to find the source or sources of the invasive weed and Harmful Algal Bloom problem... and, not just dealing with the symptoms.  Wendel says... while we had a mild Winter... there were still a lot of weeds -- especially early on this year.  He says that's because there was a lot of rain during those months, which caused a lot of run-off into the lake.  Wendel made his comments for last weekend's "Community Spotlight" program on the six Media One Radio Group stations.


Frewsburg man arrested for possessing stolen property in Ellicott...
A Frewsburg man familiar to police has been arrested in the town of Ellicott for allegedly stealing items from a store late last month.  Ellicott Town Police say 29 year-old Robbie Stearns was taken into custody following an investigation into the theft from the West Ellicott location on Aug. 24.  Officers say they also searched Stearns... and found a stolen debit card in his possession.  He was arrested for fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property... and, was issued an appearance ticket for Ellicott Town Court at a later date.
