Jamestown pair arrested on meth possession, other charges...
Two people from Jamestown face drug related charges after they were allegedly found with more than 7-grams of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Brooklyn Square.  City police say a patrol stopped the car... driven by 42 year-old Tonya Thwing... on Harrison Street -- near Institute -- about 12:30 this morning.  Officers also identified the front seat passenger as 35 year-old Christopher Dellahoy.  During the stop... police say Dellahoy took a digital scale out of his pocket that had drug residue on it.  Officers searched the vehicle... and, found 7.4-grams of methamphetamine in the area that Tonya was in.  Both were taken into custody... with Thwing charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance... and, multiple traffic citations.  Police say Dellahoy is also charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance... and, two counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia.


Silver Creek man killed in two-car crash in Wyoming County...
A north county man has lost his life in a two-vehicle crash in Wyoming County.  The Wyoming County Sheriff's Office reports the accident occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Town of Wethersfield... where a car driven by 80-year-old Richard Milazzo, Junior of Silver Creek... failed to yield the right of way to a tow truck at the intersection of Wethersfield... and, Hermitage Roads.  Milazzo was found unresponsive at the wheel and pronounced dead at the scene by a Wyoming County coroner.


City man arrested following westside street check...
A Jamestown man is accused of trying to elude police as he was being taken into custody following a street check on the city's westside Thursday morning.  Jamestown police say officers on patrol in the area of West Sixth and Cherry Streets shortly after 10 a.m., and, saw 29 year-old Tyrel Adelgren-Foster walking in the area.  Officers knew there were outstanding warrants for his arrest for Felony third-degree criminal mischief... fourth-degree criminal mischief...  criminal obstruction of breathing... and, third-degree assault.  Police tried to apprehend Foster... and, were led on a brief foot chase before he was taken into custody.  Foster was taken to the city jail on a charge of resisting arrest in addition to his warrants.  He was later arraigned, and released with appearance tickets.


Retired WJTN Morning Man Dennis Webster received commendation from legislature...
More accolades for our retired, long-time morning man here at WJTN... Dennis Webster.  He received a special commendation during Wednesday night's county legislature meeting from County Executive P.J. Wendel at the beginning of Wednesday night's meeting... which highlighted his 54 years at what is now the Media One Radio Group... referring to Dennis as a morning radio icon, who showed true professionalism and dedication to community service.  Dennis used his wry sense of humor to express his appreciation to several people... but, mainly his wife, Sheila... and, their two adult children.  During his last 47 years here at the stations... he was an early morning program host... and, he retired this past Aug. 2.  You can view the entire presentation on our Media One Group Radio website.


Busti Apple Harvest Festival celebrates it's 50th Anniversary this weekend...
The 50th annual Busti Apple Harvest Festival will again be a two-day event this year... with activites beginning on Saturday morning... and, continuing through Sunday afternoon.  The festival is put on each year by the Busti Historical Society... and, is a major fund-raiser for them.  The society's Norman Carlson says it had been a one-day event in the past... but, last year they made it a two-day program to coincide with the Busti Bicentennial Celebration.  Carlson says it went so well, they wanted to bring it back again this year.  He says there were as many as five festivals in the town in one year, but, "that was long ago."  Activities each day begin at 11 a.m., and, runs until 5 p.m.  The Busti Apple Festival will be held rain or shine on the Busti Historical Society grounds on Lawson Road... near the five corners of Busti.  People of all ages will be able to enjoy old-time craft demonstrators, along with the 1840s miller's house restoration project.  For more information... go to the historical society's website... or call 483-3670.


Kitchen fire causes significant damage to Fredonia home...
Fire has significantly damaged a single-family home in the Village of Fredonia.  Fredonia firefighters responded to a report of a kitchen fire at 557 Temple St. shortly after 6:15 p.m. Wednesdday... with one adult still inside the residence at the time.  On arrival, crews saw smoke from the roofline, and inside the house, they found heavy fire in the kitchen with extension to the wall and ceiling.  Fire damage was contained to that area, but the rest of the residence sustained heat and smoke damage.  All occupants were out of the house and accounted for, and there were no injuries reported.  The fire was ruled accidental in nature due to stovetop boilover of grease.  Mutual aid was called in from Dunkirk firefighters.  Crews were on scene for about 90 minutes.
