Jamestown firefighters make quick work of kitchen fire, one person treated at the hospital for burns...
Quick work by Jamestown firefighters confined a kitchen fire to that part of a house on the city's northside early Wednesday evening. Jamestown Fire Battlion Chief Keith Olson says crews were called to 1121 Prendergast Ave. shortly after 7 p.m., and, found light smoke in the area... and that all five occupants out of the home. However... one was quickly transported to UPMC Chautauqua Hospital with burns to their hands. Four others sought treatment for lesser injuries. Olson says crews used fire extinguishers to bring the blaze under control in about 10 minutes. Fire investigators say an over-heated kitchen appliance is the apparent cause of the fire. Crews were at the scene just over two hours.

Dunkirk HS student arrested for alleged threat to the school...
An investigation conducted by the Dunkirk Police Department into a recent social media threat that targeted Dunkirk High School has led to the arrest of a 15-year-old student at the school. Dunkirk Police were made aware of the threat on Sunday that had been posted on Snapchat. Captain Chris Witkowski says the post contained an AK-47 leaned up against a bed... but, he says they found out it's a "stock photo" on the internet. Witkowski says they then determined it was a "low-level threat." Officers immediately began investigating the incident, working closely with the Dunkirk City School District and its School Resource Officer... as well as the Dunkirk Police Detective Bureau. In collaboration with the FBI... the investigation ended with the unidentified teen charged with making a threat of mass harm. The teen will appear in Family Court at a later date, and Witkowski adds that the teen may face additional disciplinary action from the school district.
Fredonia Village Board to holding special, financial-situation meeting Friday morning...
The Fredonia Village Board still plans to hold a special meeting tomorrow morning regarding the village's financial situation. While they're doing that... the Fredonia School District will hold it's vote on a $51.7-million capital improvement project that includes a near 10% tax increase. The village board meeting was requested by Trustee Jon Espersen... who cited an October report from the village treasurer that found the village will run out of cash before the end of the fiscal year if immediate action is not taken. Espersen says the village needs to find a way to provide services without a significant tax increase... including sharing of services, and drastic cuts to department budgets. Mayor Mike Ferguson says while he understands the importance of athletic and music programs for schools, he urged school district voters to fully consider the needs versus wants. Again due to the State of Emergency in the north county today... that capital improvement project vote has been rescheduled fro tomorrow. The special Fredonia Village Board meeting will begin at 9 a.m. Friday at Village Hall.
Fredonia Police warning about possible cable scam...
The Fredonia Police Department says it has received complaints regarding a white male approaching residences in the village and inquiring about their cable service. The man does not display any professional credentials and is seen driving a grey sedan bearing an unknown New Jersey license plate. Fredonia Police would like to remind the public that in the village of Fredonia, all door-to-door peddlers must obtain a Peddler's Permit. Chief David Price says no such permit has been issued for this particular solicitation. He asks any resident encountering this type of activity to immediately contact the Fredonia Police Department, in an effort to identify this person and verify the intent of his activity. Anyone encountering this activity outside the village should contact their local law enforcement department.
