City man faces slew of drug charges following raid on Jamestown's southside...
A Jamestown man faces nearly a dozen drug-related charges following a raid on an apartment on the city's southside late Monday morning. City police say members of the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force... and, Sheriff's Department Narcotics Investigators executed a search warrant on the lower apartment at 613 Newland Ave., and, arrested 26 year-old Jaydaicus Black. Once the residence was secured... police say they found 76.4 grams of methamphetamine... 1.9 grams of fentanyl... 52 dosage units of fentanyl... 10.7 grams of crack cocaine... 3.5 grams of powder cocaine... and, 2-grams of MDMA. Investigators have charged Black with one count of second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance... four counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance... three counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance... seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance... and, two counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphenalia. City police say the investigation is on going and more arrests are expected.
Jamestown man faces robbery, harassment charges following late week domestic incident in Jamestown...
A Jamestown man faces robbery and harassment charges following a physical domestic incident involving multiple victims on the city's southside. Jamestown police were called to the location shortly before 8 p.m. last Friday... and, on arrival spoke with one of the victims. They said that 35 year-old Robert McIntire had assaulted them, and forcibly took property from them. Police say McIntire then allegedly tried to flee... and, shoved another person down a flight of stairs... struck them again... and then shoved that victim through a wall. When that person tried to help the first victim... he was struck by McIntire before the suspect fled in his car. Shortly after that... officers found McIntire operating the vehicle at a nearby location.... and, he was taken into custody on charges of second-degree robbery -- with injury... second-degree harassment... and, fourth-degree criminal mischief. McIntire was then jailed pending arraignment.
Larson urges fellow legislators to work in 2025 to get EAS designation restored to Jamestown Airport...
It's common for people to make New Year's resolutions to begin the new year. However... a member of the Chautauqua County Legislature is urging the entire body to make one in 2025. Jamestown Democrat Fred Larson called on lawmakers during last week's reorganizational meeting to focus on bringing commercial air service back to the county airport near Jamestown. Larson says -- since 1978 -- only five smaller cities have lost their Essential Air Service designation... and, one was Jamestown in 2018. The Jamestown Airport has not been able to get it back since. At it's year-end meeting... the legislature heard a presentation by a consultant about getting that service back. Larson says he did some further research into the matter... and, says the county should have never lost it's designation to begin with. He urged fellow lawmakers to strive to get that service back. A variety of factors led to the county airport near Jamestown to lose it's designation... including lack of ridership on flights in and out of Jamestown leading up to that... and, the carrier at the time -- Southern Airways -- would cancel flights for a number of reasons.
House fire in Busti ruled accidental...
An electrical issue is the apparent cause of a mid-morning house fire Sunday in the town of Busti. Sheriff's Department dispatchers say Busti firefighters were called to the scene on the Busti-Sugar Grove Rd. about 10 a.m., along with multiple mutual aid companies. Once the flames were out... they called in the county's Fire Investigation Team. Investigators say the blaze originated in the attic space due to the electrical problem... and, was ruled accidental. No injuries were reported.
City man arrested for allegedly hitting victim in face with blunt object...
A Jamestown man has been arrested for allegedly hitting another person in the face with a blunt object during a domestic incident on the city's southside. Jamestown police were called to the location shortly before 8 p.m. last Thursday for a "physical domestic" dispute. Officers say their investigation found that 38 year-old Brian Lowers had struck the victim in the face twice... but, the victim got away and locked themself into a bathroom. Police later found Lowers at a nearby location... and he was arrested for second-degree assault... and, Felony aggravated criminal contempt. He's also charged with second-degree harassment through a Jamestown City Court warrant. He was jailed pending arraignment.
Fredonia man arrested following DWAI accident in north county village...
A north county man is accused of driving while under the influence of drugs after his car struck an electric pole in the village of Fredonia... and, continued going. Sheriff's officers say 31 year-old Nicholas Mooney of Fredonia was traveling on Route 60 about 11 a.m. last Friday... when the accident occured. Deputies later stopped Mooney... and, he was arrested for DWAI by drugs... moving from lane unsafely... third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation... and, leaving the scene of a property damage accident. Mooney was arraigned and issued appearance tickets for Pomfret Town Court.
City man arrested for public lewdness at W. Third St. location...
A Jamestown man has been arrested for allegedly commiting a lewd, sex act in the trash room of a West Third Street address early last weekend. City police were called to the location shortly before 1 p.m. last Friday... and, made contact with the female victim. Officers then located the suspect... 27 year-old Schuyler Coleman... a short time later... and, he was arrested for public lewdness and, taken to the city jail pending arraignment.
