Jamestown woman arrsted on warrant, drug possession charge...
A city woman has been arrested on a drug possession charge following a warrant check at a home on Jamestown's southside Monday night.  City police... accompanied by Chautauqua County Probation... conducted the check shortly before 9 p.m., and, found 26 year-old Autumn Kahm inside the residence.  Officers say they found Kahm had an outstanding city court warrant for her arrest.  She resisted police commands when advised of the warrant... but, she was taken into custody after a brief struggle.  Officers later found her in possession of 13.5 grams of methamphetamine.  Kahm was taken to the city jail on charges of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance... resisting arrest... and on the warrant.  She was jailed pending arraignment.


Man arrested in Jamestown following neighbor dispute...
A city man has been arrested after allegedly threatening a neighbor with a screwdriver during a dispute on Jamestown's southside early Monday evening.  City police say they were called to the location about 6:30 p.m., and, were told that Tyler Cahill had threatened the neighbor and he was taken into custody without incident.  Officers say Cahill was charged with second-degree menacing, and sent to the city jail pending arraignment.


Man from Kennedy arrested following physical domestic dispute...
A Kennedy man faces several charges following a physical domestic incident in the town of Poland late Monday morning.  Sheriff's officers say they and State Police were called to the scene on Dogwood Street about 11:55 a.m. for a reported altercation.  Their investigation showed that 30 year-old Scott Martin had made unwanted physical contact with another person... preventing them from calling 911 in front of children there.  Martin was also accused of trying to forcibly touch another person... as well as obstruct a police investigation and resist arrest.  He was arrested for first-degree criminal contempt... fourth-degree criminal mischief... two counts of endangering the welfare of a child... second-degree harassment... attempted forcible touching... second-degree obstructing governmental administration... and, resisting arrest.  Martin was taken to the county jail pending centralized arraignment.


Commendation made to JPD School Resource Officer at JHS...
The Jamestown Police Department's School Resource Officer at JHS has been commended for his quick actions to defuse a situation involving a "student in distress."  At-large City Councilman Jeff Russell recently commended the actions of Officer Jeremy Maggio last Nov. 4.  Russell says the student had armed himself with a knife... and, was having a "mental heatlh crisis."  He says Officer Maggio was able to isolate the student, and call for more security and police at the scene.  Russell adds that the school administration issued a "hold in place" to keep students safe while the situation was defused.  He adds that Maggio successfully de-escalated the situation within a short time... and, the student later dropped the knife.  Russell asked that his letter... and one of commendation by Police Chief Tim Jackson... be put in Officer Maggio permanent file.  During a time where the police have been frequently vilified... Russell says he felt the need to commend the officer.  The officer's actions were given rounsing applause at the meeting.


Fire damages Dunkirk home, cause ruled accidental...
An electrical issue is being blamed for a house fire in the north county city of Dunkirk early Monday evening.  Sheriff's Department Fire dispatchers say Dunkirk fire crews were called to 156 Lincoln Ave. shortly after 7 p.m.  Once the fire was out... they say County Fire Investigators were called in... and, determined the cause was accidental.  No injuries were reported.


Traffic impacted by camper fire, and overturning on Thruway...
Traffic on the New York State Thruway in the town of Westfield was slowed down for about two hours after a camper caught fire and overturned late Sunday morning.  Firefighters from Ripley and Westfield were called to the scene in the eastbound lanes near the Rogerville Road overpass shortly after 11:30 a.m.  In a Facebook post... the Westfield Fire Department stated that a strong wind gust caused the camper to overturn.  The department adds that the occupants of the pickup truck pulling the camper were uninjured, and the truck was still driveable.  State Police also assisted at the scene. 


City man arrested following pair of weekend domestic incidents...
A man from Jamestown is accused of being the aggressor in a pair of domestic incidents over the past weekend on the city's northside.  Jamestown police were called to the unidentified address shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday... and, later arrested 20 year-old Jaral Farmer for being involved in the two incidents... which occured within a day of each other.  Officers say Farmer also violated an order of protection in each case.  Police say he prevented the victim from leaving a bedroom by obstructing their breathing... and, damaging property inside the home.  Farmer was taken into custody on charges including: two counts of second-degree contempt... second-degree unlawful imprisonment... third and fourth-degree criminal mischief... and, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation.  He was jailed pending arraignment.
