RV destroyed in West Ellicott drive-way fire, siding on adjacent homes damaged...
Fire has destroyed a recreational vehicle parked in the driverway of a home in West Ellicott that sent huge plumes of black smoke into the air.  Celoron Fire Chief Tim Nelson says crews were called to the scene at 837 Fairmount Ave. about 9:30 Monday morning.  Nelson says the fire had a good head start... and, the vehicle was fully-engulfed in flames.  He says Lakewood was also immediately dispatched.  He says they had to run hoses across Fairmount Avenue to access nearby hydrants, so the road had to be closed in the immediate area.  Nelson says it took firefighters about 15 minutes to bring the flames under control.  He says the family that owned both the house and motor home were out-of-town at the time... and a passerby called in the alarm.  Nelson adds that Busti firefighters joined Celoron and Lakewood at the scene... along with county fire coordinators.  He says the county's Fire Investigation Team has also been called... and, says there may have been an electrical issue with a wire running from the garage to the RV to possibly charge a battery.  Nelson says the home and garage where the RV was parked both had exposure side damage to those structures... along with exposure damage to one side of a neighboring home.  Someone was home there at the time of the fire... but, got out safely.
