Council's Housing Committee discusses "Infill Housing" opportunities to be made available in city...
Nearly 40 parcels of land in various parts of the city of Jamestown have been identified for "Infill" housing by the city's Department of Development. The City Council's Housing Committee discussed several lots and parcels -- some of which are owned by the Chautauqua County Land Bank -- that are currently available. Committee Chairman Bill Reynolds says they discussed the pre-permitting process with Development Director Crystal Surdyk during their meeting before the council's work session. Reynolds says there was a map included with the specific infill locations where that can take place. Reynolds says the lots are available on Fluvanna Avenue... Spring Street... Fulton Street... Vega and Eagle Streets... and Johnson and Cross Streets. He says there are still some steps yet to be taken before the city can move ahead with selling those properties for new housing. City officials have discussed the idea of possibly allowing so-called "Tiny Homes" to be constructed on some of the smaller plots of land. Those discussions are also part of the process for developing the city's new comprehensive plan and zoning ordinance.
