Fire damages home on Jamestown's northside early Friday morning...
Quick work by Jamestown firefighters prevented serious damage to a two-story home on the city's northside overnight.  Interim Jamestown Fire Chief Ryan Rousch says crews were called to 19 Regent St. just after 12:30 a.m. Friday... and, found heavy smoke and fire coming from part of the upper portion of the house.  He adds an offshift was called in to assist, and they had the blaze under control in about 15 minutes.  Rousch says they had reports that everyone got out of the home safely... but, crews did check to make sure everyone was out of the home.  He says crews were able to not only get the fire out... but, confine damage to that one area of the home.  Rousch says no firefighters were hurt during the response.  He believes the house is repairable.  They were assisted at the scene by city police, Alstar ambulance, National Fuel and the Board of Public Utilities.  Rousch says the cause remains under investigation.


Two of three missing Chautauqua County girls located safe...
Two of the three teenaged girls reported missing by State Police in Chautauqua County have been located... and, are safe... while one remains missing at this time.  Troopers in Fredonia say two Cassadaga girls went missing early Thursday morning... but, now say 16 year-old Liliana Payne... and 15 year-old Luna Farmer... have been located.  State Police in Jamestown say they are now on the look-out for 14 year-old Mhyah Goon of Frewsburg.  Troopers say she was last seen back on June 8th.  She is 5' 2" inches tall... has dyed black hair and blue eyes.  If you have any information on Mhyah's whereabouts... call State Police at (585) 344-6200.


Man killed on officer-involved shooting in town of Mina identified...
A 66 year-old town of Mina resident has now been identified as the man shot and killed in Wednesday afternoon's officer-involved shooting in the town.  The Sheriff's Office reports two deputies arrived at the scene at 2900 Mina-French Creek Rd. shortly before 4 p.m. for a domestic incident.  When they arrived... deputies say the pair encountered Mark Bemus... an armed subject who was outside the home with a shotgun, and who did fire off one round from the gun at that point.  Officers say Bemus pointed the gun at a deputy at various times... and, the deputy gave several verbal commands to put the weapon down.  However... all were refused... and, several rounds were allegedly fired in which one deputy suffered non-life-threatening wounds to his hands... and, Bemus was also struck by shots fired by the deputies.  First aid was administered to Bemis by an additional deputy who arrived on the scene until EMS arrived.  However... he later died at the scene.  The deputy was treated at UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa., and, later released.  The investigation is continuing.


Youth struck and seriously injured in truck-bicycle dies, and is identified...
The 11 year-old boy struck while riding his bike on Jamestown's eastside has passed away from injuries suffered in the accident this past Tuesday.  In press release late Thursday... the Jamestown Public Schools said they are "mourning the loss of a Jefferson
Middle School fifth-grade student who was fatally injured."  The student... identified by police as Daniel Galarza Ramos... passed away Wednesday evening at Oishei Children's Hospital in Buffalo.  He was struck by a pick-up truck at the intersection of Willard and Kinney Streets.  School Superintendent Kevin Whitaker says they were saddened to hear the news... and, "our sincere condolences are with the student’s family and friends."  He adds that a "student's passing has a lasting impact on those close to them and our school district stands ready to offer support to students, staff, and families however needed."  


City of Jamestown's Prendergast Landing project awarded more than $700,000 in Restore-NY funds...
Progress is being made on a major project on Jamestown's westside that's aimed at revitalizing a vacant, historic three-story building for commercial use.  Governor Kathy Hochul recently announced that the proposed Prendergast Landing redevelopment project was one of 50 statewide that are receiving just over $50-million in "Restore New York" funding.  Hochul says the project is received just over $721,000 to convert the building, and two adjacent lots that will include a small café... a retail outfitter for outdoor activities... and a boutique showcasing local small businesses on the ground floor.  The second floor will offer flexible office spaces for businesses and a multipurpose room for community events.  The third floor will provide three residential lofts.


Wanted Lakewood man arrested in Jamestown...
A Lakewood man sought on multiple warrants has been arrested following a street check in Jamestown early Thursday morning.  City police say a patrol spotted 28 year-old Tyler Manelick near the corner of East Sixth Street and Prendergast Avenue shortly after 6 a.m., and, knew there were warrants for Manelick from both Jamestown city... and, Ellicott town courts.  He was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a credit card reported stolen in Lakewood... along with a set of metal knuckles, and a quantity of suboxone strips.  Manelick was arrested on the warrants... and for fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property... third-degree criminal possession of a weapon... and, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
