City man arrested for possession of large amount of meth, and loaded handgun...
A man from Jamestown faces drug and weapons possession charges after his bicycle was stopped for a traffic violation on the city's eastside. City police say a patrol spotted the bike... operated by 26 year-old Bracken Warren... about 3 p.m. Tuesday. Once they stopped Warren...they allegedly found him in possession of 56.6 grams of methamphetamine. Police also found a loaded handgun, a large quantity of drug packaging material, and a digital scale. Police took Warren into custody without incident... and, he was taken to the city jail on charges including second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance... second-degree criminal possession of a weapon... and, two counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. He was jailed pending arraignment.
Man on parole arrested in Jamestown for alleged possession of opiates...
A Jamestown man out on parole has been arrested on the city's northside after allegedly being found in possession of methamphetamine... and, a quantity of opiates. City police say they were called to assist State Parole at a northside address shortly after 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. Parole officials said they had an active warrant for 48 year-old Sean McLleveen of Jamestown. During a preliminary search... officers say they found McLleveen in possession of a quantity of meth... and, was later found with the opiate during a search at the city jail. He was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was held pending arraignment.
New UPMC Chautauqua Pres. outlines efforts to get new specialist doctors to the area, and expansion at the hospital...
Some recent retirements have led to a shortage of some specialty medical services in the Jamestown-area... and, the new president of UPMC Chautauqua Hospital is keenly aware of that. However... Tracy Gates says as they're trying to back-fill some of that... they are able to lean on UPMC's network of physicians to fill those gaps. Gates says they're looking at two main criteria... what is the need, and the demand. She adds they are looking at replacing some of those recent openings, and will rely on help from others in the UPMC network to help fill the others. UPMC Chautauqua Hospital has gone through some major renovations in recent years... from the addition to expand the Emergency Room... to emergency vehicle areas. Gates says the hospital has also received grant funding to begin work on another expansion project in the operating and procedure rooms. UPMC Chautauqua received a nearly $30-million grant in early 2023 to fund a comprehensive surgical services expansion, which includes renovating and expanding the existing operating rooms and adding four new procedure rooms.
JHS student allegedly found with pocketknife Thursday morning...
A student found on the grounds of Jamestown High School was allegedly found in possession of a pocketknife... and now faces disciplinary action by the district. On the district's Facebook page... officials say they got a report of the safety concern involving the unidentified student. They say the incident occured before school began... and, before the student entered the building. The statement said -- "with support from our SRO, red shirts, and JPD the student was safely secured and is receiving further evaluation. The matter was addressed immediately and the student will face disciplinary consequences consistent with our code of conduct." Officials added that "at no time were other students or staff in danger."
JPD reports third-shift platoon made 11 arrests during the overnight from Monday night to Tuesday morning...
A total of 11 people were arrested during the overnight shift late Monday night into Tuesday morning in Jamestown. City police say six of those were arrested on warrants... with the first taking place shortly after 11 p.m. Monday. Officers say they were assisted by Ellicott Town Police in arresting Edwin Gibbon and Heather Stanek -- both 40 -- of Jamestown.... in connection with the theft of an enclosed trailer from a local business. Gibbon was taken to the county jail without bail.. and, Stanek was released pending futher court action.

Shortly before Midnight... officers were called to the area of East Sixth and Liberty Streets on a report of an Recreational Vehicle blocking the intersection.... and, arrested three people for drug possession. Police say 38 year-old Vanessa Figueredo was allegedly found with a small quantity of fentanyl, digital scales, and a narcotic cutting agent. In addition... 62 year-old Teresa Davis of Jamestown was found with a small quantity of fentanyl, cocaine, digital scales, and a cutting agent. And... 60 year-old Timothy Slate of Steamburg was allegedly found in possession of cocaine, fentanyl, digital scales, a cutting agent, and suspected drug proceeds. Officers say Slater is currently on State Parole for third-degree criminal possession of a controlled Substance. All three were jailed pending arraignment.

City man killed when his motorcycle strikes oncoming car in Warren County, Pa....
A man from Jamestown was killed last Sunday night when his motorcycle struck an oncoming car on Route 957 in Warren County's Columbus Township. State Police in Corry, Pa. say 38 year-old James Larson was eastbound on 957 shortly before 9 p.m. when his bike crossed the center line, and struck an oncoming vehicle. Troopers say Larson was pronounced dead at the scene. A 19 year-old woman was driving the car... which was heavily-damaged. The woman was taken to Corry Memorial Hospital for treatment of what appeared to be minor injuries.
