Cold, and windy, but, calmer days in Chautauqua County as Winter Storm Warning remains in effect...
We'll get a bit of a break from the Lake Effect Snow this afternoon... but, more is on the way... especially tomorrow afternoon through the start of the New Year.  That from Forecaster Steve Welch with the National Weather Service in Buffalo... who says our Winter Storm Warning remains in effect through early Friday.  Welch says... after a cold and windy day Monday... the lake effect snow will move to our north... during the day.  Later in the day, though, he says the lake effect bands will move back into the south county -- including the Jamestown-area -- as winds come more out of the west.  Welch says that may drop a couple more inches of snow before tomorrow... when we're expected to possibly see the most snow fall of any day this week as a "clipper" system with a cold front moves through the region... and, the snow band areas may produce 6 to 12 inches of the white stuff.  The weather service says some of the lake effect snow areas will see between 18 to 24 inches -- or more -- coming down through early Thursday.

Wind gusts yesterday were impressive... with a 79 mph gust reported just after 11 a.m. at the Buffalo-Niagara Airport... and, there was a report of a 69 mph gust in Dunkirk.  Welch says the typical snow belt areas received half-a-foot or more of snow... with the most reported in Franklinville with 9.1-inches.
