City man arrested following disorderly person incident, and hitting a JPD officer...
A man from Jamestown has been arrested after allegedly hitting a responding police officer in the face during an incident on the city's northside.  Jamestown police were called to the scene shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a disorderly person.  Officers say 65 year-old Christopher Murray was allegedly obstructing traffic... and, when they tried to investigate... Murray allegedly began yelling and struck one of them.  After a brief struggle... he was taken into custody... and, held pending arraignment on charges of second-degree assault... and, resisting arrest.  The officer was treated for minor injuries.


Two from Panama-area arrested during raid for stealing several items -- including an ATV...         
Two people from Panama have been arrested following an investigation into a number of stolen items that were found in their house during a raid late last month.  Sheriff's officers say they executed a search warrant at 7453 Wiltise Rd. in the Town Clymer back on Feb. 27.  The Sheriff's Department SWAT Team made entry... and, they found 37 year-old James Murray... and, 33 year-old Emily Walker inside.  Deputies took both into custody... and, found the stolen items... which included a Polaris ATV.  Both Murray and Walker are charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property... and, were arraigned.  They were issued appearance tickets for Clymer Town Court at a later date.


Assembly Republicans propose energy relief "LOWER" Plan...
Republicans in the New York State Assembly have unveiled legislation they say will address growing concerns over the state's energy costs and grid reliability.  Minority Leader Ed Ra announced the "Lights On With Energy Relief (LOWER)" Plan during a press conference in Albany.  Ra says the proposal offers a "course correction" that will deliver help to households across the state that are being burdened by ever increasing costs... noting that electric rates are up about 47%.  Local Assemblyman Andrew Molitor says the legislative package contains $2-billion in relief for ratepayers.  Molitor... a Westfield Republican... says the plan would also pause the state's Climate Act mandates, such as restrictions on natural gas and electrification of school buses, until reliability and feasibility studies are conducted. 


County gets $250,000 State Grant to more efforts to develop more affordable and workforce housing...
Chautauqua County has received a $250,000 dollar state grant to help advance efforts to create more affordable and workforce housing.  The county's Department of Planning and Development has announced it's been awarded the quarter of a million dollars throught the state's Homes and Community Renewal -- "Technical Assistance to Grow Pro-Housing Communities" -- program.  County Executive P.J. Wendel says the funding will advance the county's Housing Market Analysis and Development Strategy developed with the county's Partnership for Economic Growth.  Wendel says it's not a large amount... but, he says the department is often able to leverage those dollars 5 and 6-times over.  The Department says the funding will be used to "advance housing site readiness, zoning updates, and implementation of the County’s Housing Strategy to expand affordable and workforce housing opportunities."  Two projects -- one in Jamestown and the other in Dunkirk -- recently took major steps forward... and, Wendel says they want to continue that momentum to other communities as well.  The department reports the funding will help fully develop an inventory of potential housing sites... finding five sites to be selected to move from pre-development analysis to construction readiness... and, a developers forum.


Dunkirk man charged with DWI after rollover accident Tuesday...
A Dunkirk man suffered minor injuries and is facing charges following a rollover crash in the north county city late Tuesday afternoon. Dunkirk Police, along with Dunkirk Fire and Alstar Ambulance, were called to the area of Central Avenue and East Green Street at about 4:15 p.m., and, found a vehicle on its roof with one person trapped inside.  Fire and rescue personnel extricated 54-year-old Michael Lemanski and took him to a local hospital.  Officers determined that the vehicle struck a traffic control pole at the intersection and also damaged a private home before the vehicle rolled over.  After further investigation, Lemanski was charged with driving while intoxicated... fourth--degree criminal mischief, and several vehicle and traffic violations.  He was released with tickets.


Jamestown man arrested after allegedly pushing woman down stairs during domestic dispute...
A city man has been arrested for allegedly shoving a woman down a short flight of stairs during a domestic incident on Jamestown's northside.  City police were called to the unidentified location shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday for a "physical domestic dispute."  On arrival... officers say they found that 51 year-old Doughshon Gholston had pushed the female victim down the stairs... causing minor injuries.  Police say Gholston initially resisted arrest... but, was taken into custody following a brief struggle.  He's charged with third-degree assault... and, resisting arrest.  He was held pending arraignment.
