Ecklund discusses decision to appoint Bryan Bigelow to replace the late Tony Dolce on City Council...
It was difficult to move forward... but, Jamestown's mayor says it was important to fill the City Council vacancy left by the death of Tony Dolce quickly. Kim Ecklund says replacing Dolce was going to be a difficult task to begin with. However... Ecklund says she liked the Ward-2 Republican Committee's decision on Bryan Bigelow... who she has been familiar with through his community work. In particular, his long-time work with midget football. Bigelow is also running in the November Special Election to fill out the rest of Dolce's two-year term on Council. He's running against Democrat Jason Sample. Ecklund says... with budget time coming quickly... along with other matters... it was important to make an appointment sooner rather than later. She had 60-days to fill the seat. However... that would have left an eight member board with no vote to break potential ties. Ecklund says Bigelow is employed by Northwest Savings... and, has a background in Information Technology. Tony Dolce passed away July 18. Ecklund made her comments for last weekend's "Community Spotlight" program on the six Glenora Radio Network stations.
