Warren's 46-Year Halloween Light Tradition Returns

For 46 years, Jeff Bartsch of Warren has been turning his property into a synchronized music-and-light show for Halloween and Christmas. The Halloween display runs nightly from 6:30PM to 10:00PM through Halloween night, and it’s completely free. Many visitors watch from their vehicles, and Bartsch says guests have ranged from under a year old to 102. “There’s nothing scary, nothing that is going to shock you. It’s just good, clean fun,” he told Erie News Now.

The effort behind it runs deep. Bartsch, a former tennis coach and local business owner, starts computer programming in January and begins physical setup around Labor Day. He maintains every LED light and computer chip himself to keep the elaborate shows running year after year.

There’s no long break, either. Bartsch starts building the Christmas display on Sunday, November 1st, the day after the Halloween show closes. Have you been out to see his display yet, and what’s the longest-running holiday tradition in your own neighborhood?
