Robbins says they've heard from "hundreds of people" that they would like to see something next year.  He says town government won't be involved in it... but, he says the fire department may do something on a smaller scale.  The Bicentennial Celebration began last April with a reenactment of the first town board meeting... and, other activities.  Saturday's full-day of activities for the big finale featured a huge fireworks display at the Busti Firemen's Grounds.

Right next to the bicentennial festivities in Busti, the 49th Apple Harvest Festival took place both Saturday and Sunday.  Victoria Parker of Mayville was showing how to make linen out of flax and spoke near the end of the event Sunday.  Parker says attendance was really good on Saturday, but adds -- despite the rain Sunday -- there was pretty good attendance then as well.  Longtime Busti historian Norm Carlson says running two days was extra work because they don't have a large membership.  However... he says they were very pleased with the two-day turn-out.  Proceeds from the Apple Harvest Festival help fund the ongoing work of the Busti Historical Society.
