Our Terry Frank welcomes Chautauqua County Executive P.J. Wendel back into the studio for the first time since early 2026 to spotlight a number of issues. First they discuss the county legislature's recent approval of 150,000 in Government Reduction Initiative funds for two merger or consolidation actions. One, for 100,000 will fully study a proposed merger of the Clymer, Sherman and Panama School Districts. All three have been losing enrollment, and spending will soon outpace revenues by about 2-million for each. Another 50,000 was approved for looking into ways to cuts costs for animal control in the north county town of Pomfret. Wendel also talks about delivering his annual "State of the County" Address -- this time -- at the CHQ Chamber of Commerce's annual "County Executive Breakfast" in Jamestown on Apr. 21 at the Doubletree Hotel We also discuss the county getting Jamestown Planning Commission approval of the final site plan for the new CHQ Transit Hub on East Third Street -- across from City Hall. Wendel hopes the project will be brought in for about 400,000, and will be up and running by this Fall. He also looks back on the recent Chautauqua Lake Symposium held at the Harbor Hotel in Celoron.
