This week... News Director Terry Frank speaks with SUNY Jamestown Community College Athletic Director, George Sisson, about primarily two topics. The first is the upcoming George Bataitis Open Golf Tournament, which is a fun event... but, also raises money for athletic scholarships at JCC. Sisson says the event -- which will be held on the Chautauqua Golf Club's Lake Course -- will be held on Saturday, May 9. He adds that the scholarships are also based on "need" and have ranged between 200 and 1,000. Sisson says they hope that they can make "a difference" in a student's life. Over 36 years to date... he says they've raised about 400,000 to fund those scholarships. The second major topic is the college's athletic fields expansion project... which will hopefully provide the college with the outside facilities they need so they don't have to rent or search for other practice, and game facilities. Sisson says they want to develop better soccer, baseball and softball facilities. He says, which the original athletic complex was built, there were only three sports... now there are 15 sports.
