This week, News Director Terry Frank talks with St. Susan's Center Executive Dir. Cherie Rowland, and Jamestown Board of Public Utilities' Comm. Coordinator, Becky Robbins, about the start to the annual "Cents for St. Susan's" campaign fund-raiser for the Jamestown-area's largest soup kitchen. Robbins says -- of the 26 previous -- she's been involved for 20 years. Her predecessor, Sue Jones, started it while she was on the St. Susan's Board of Directors. It allows the BPU to help raise money in a way they can't do it as a municipal utility. The effort has raised nearly 432,000 in the previous 26 years. We discuss the needs, and the way sponsors have helped in boosting those numbers. Cherie Rowland says the money helps with perishable food needs, along with other kitchen and household items they need. She also discusses their proposed expansion at the current Water Street location.
