Director Dr. Beth Starks 00:00:00 00:00:00 News Director Terry Frank welcomes Chautauqua Lake Child Care Center Executive Director Beth Starks to the program for the first time to discuss the center's upcoming 20th anniversary. Dr. Starks says she and some others began the program at the Chautauqua Lake Central School in Mayville to help provide more child care to parents who work, and need someone reputable to keep an eye on their children during work hours. However... she says the demand is far outpacing what they're able to provide. Dr. Starks says they provide the service for about 120 families... but, still have about 100 children -- 40 of them toddlers -- who are on their waiting list. She says Chautauqua County is considered a "child care desert" due to the lack of programming. However... she says there is good news because they've received a 4.7-million grant from New York state to create a new facility in the Bemus Point Central School District that they hope to break ground on next Spring.
