Jamestown Mayor Kim Ecklund joins our Terry Frank this week to first discuss the loss of the longest-serving member of the City Council, Tony Dolce, back on July 18. Dolce passed away in his sleep that morning, and his seat had been open since then. Ecklund says, once the funeral and other formalities had taken place, she appointed Bryan Bigelow to fill Dolce's seat through the end of the year. Bigelow, a Ward-2 Republican, will face Democrat Jason Sample in a November Special Election for the seat. Ecklund says Bigelow is a more than 20 year resident of Ward-2 and is involved in many community organizations, and is employed by Northwest Savings Bank. We also discuss where the city is budgetarily for 2027. Ecklund says Comptroller Ericka Thomas has already talked spending plans with half the department heads. Overall... she says the city is holding it's own for 2026... with final sales tax numbers, and fire department overtime the key concerns. We also discuss the upcoming, 13-year-old Babe Ruth World Series at Diethrick Park, which will include 11 teams this year, and begins on Saturday, Aug. 15 and runs until Aug. 22. We also discuss the annual Labor Day Festival... which will be held on the Sunday before Labor Day at Bergman Park, and include presentation of the annual George Ritzer Labor Award
