News Director Terry Frank covers three main topics on this week's program with Chautauqua County Executive P.J. Wendel. Regarding his budget, which will be presented at the legislature's Sept. 23 meeting in Mayville... Wendel believes people will be "pleasantly surprised" with how things will work out with the tax levy, and tax rate for 2027. Wendel says it's pretty much a "bare bones" budget right now, with little wiggle room. In response to comments at the legislature's August voting session... he says his administration did use a significant amount of undesignated fund balance for the current year's spending plan... a total of 7-milliion. We also discuss the county's first confirmed case of Measles in more than 30 years. Wendel said it's in the south county, and in a somewhat isolated area of the town of North Harmony. He praised the county Health Department for it's quick response to the case. We also discuss the upcoming 25th anniversary of the "9/11" terrorist attacks in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania. He says the local ceremony will again be held in front of the County Courthouse in Mayville beginning at 12 Noon this Friday.
