Our Terry Frank begins Glenora Radio's preview of the upcoming Fall elections with an interview with Democrat Congressional challenger, Aaron Gies. Gies highlights his reasons for running, including his background of coming from a working class family while being raised in High Point, NC. The Olean resident, who is a professor of Theology at St. Bonaventure University. He says his biggest issue is making gas, groceries, housing and other aspects of life in America affordable again. Gies has hosted about three-dozen of the 100 town hall meetings he pledged to host in the 99-days leading up to the Nov. 3 Election. He hosted his first town hall at the Prendergast Library in Jamestown. He says it's to show contrast between himself at incumbant Republican Nick Langworthy. He also feels it's important to talk with people in the rural parts of the 23rd District, who many times feel forgotten. Gies also talks about recent concerns with Artificial Intelligence... and the need to "take care of people" first. As for data centers... he says he would like the state's to put the guardrails in place for siting and environmental standards. He's also concerned about the "financial exploitation" of small communities. Back to affordability... Gies say he would push for a dignified end to the Iran War, have Congress reclaim it's power regarding tariffs, and reinstitute the Affordable Care Act subsidies.
