This week, News Director Terry Frank continues our previews of major election races in November with 57th District NY State Senator, George Borrello. The Sunset Bay Republican is seeking re-election by continuing is commitment to making New York more business-friendly... and, reduce the amount of red tape businesses encounter. Borrello speaks from experience as he, and his wife, Kelly, run a pair of north county businesses. He touts his experience as a Chautauqua County Legislator, and County Executive to making sure "we get our fair share from Albany." Borrello says he's been able to bring forth programs like the "Nourish-NY" program to get farm products and food to local food banks to help make sure people have food to eat, and that farmers get something for their crops. Secondly, he says he's been able fight many of the state's Climate Law mandates... including the electrification of buildings, and school buses. Of note, the bus mandate has been delayed by five-years. Asked if the state should suspend it's tax on gasoline and diesel fuel, he believes it should be -- as it was during the Biden Administration. He also talks about his stance of supporting "guardrails" on AI, but, not in a way to harm it's development. Borrello also supports the Governor's proposed guidelines for new Data Centers, but, he does not agree with the state pushing certain energy to supply those centers.
