This week... News Director Terry Frank speaks with first-term Republican NYS Assemblyman Andrew Molitor of Westfield... who says he's been working hard to reduce costs for residents in the 150th Assembly District. Molitor says he's enjoyed his two-years in the state legislature's lower house, and has served on several different committees. He says he's worked "respectfully" with his colleagues in the Assembly to lower costs and taxes on residents. Among the area's he's pushed for is to eliminate the tax on regular gasoline and diesel fuel -- especially in light of recent cost increases. He says if the state would cut more unnecessary costs, the tax wouldn't be needed. Molitor feels the state needs to end it's ban on extracting natural gas, and allow more refining. On a different topic, he feels that Artificial Intelligence is coming... along with data centers. However... he feels there needs to be some "baseline" regulations to keep people, and government entities safe. Molitor says he agrees with not wanting a data center in "his backyard." However... he feels it's important to allow local communities to have their own standards, and allowing centers to proliferate, like they have in Virginia to that state's detriment. He also believes it's beyond time for the state to streamline it's Medicaid system -- especially given the amount of fraud being found in the state's program.
